TERMS & CONDITIONS

Scope & Applicability 
These Terms & Conditions apply to GoShine memberships and fitness classes, facility hire (including courts and pitches), and club block bookings at the GoShine Portishead site. 

 

1. Membership 

  • All memberships are valid for the stated period and run from the date of joining until cancelled by the member. 

  • Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. 

  • Memberships may be revoked if a member fails to conduct themselves respectfully or breaches our Code of Conduct. 

  • Cancellations must be made by the member by cancelling their Direct Debit and notifying the GoShine team via email (info@go-shine.uk

 

2. Fitness Suite 

  • The fitness suite is accessed via a personal Paxton key. 

  • Sports centre staff may request additional identification; if your Paxton key does not work. Entry may be refused if none can be provided. 

  • Members should be aware of busy periods within the fitness suite, including accreditation/inductions where equipment access may be limited. 

 

3. Booking & Attendance (Classes & Activities) 

  • Classes can be booked up to (but not limited to) 14 days in advance. 

  • For health and safety purposes, attendance at booked sessions is monitored. 

  • If unable to attend, members must cancel no later than 30 minutes before the start of the class. 

  • Failure to cancel and non-attendance for three or more classes in a calendar month will result in a reminder. Continued breaches will incur a £3.50 charge per missed class thereafter. 

  • Classes must be booked before attending 

  • Classes attended without booking will be charged for the class plus an admin fee (and may be removed from the class). 

 

4. Pricing 

  • All prices are subject to review on 31 August each year. After this date, membership fees will be charged at the newly approved rate. These changes will be communicated to members. 

  • Direct Debit payments will automatically adjust to the new rate as notified. 

 

5. Health & Safety 

  • All members are advised to seek medical advice before commencing exercise. 

  • Members and guests must abide by the No Smoking Policy. 

  • Parking on-site is free of charge – GoShine are not liable/responsible for any damage to property on site. 

 

6. Cancellation Policy (Memberships, Classes & Standard Hire) 

  • GoShine/Shine operates a 48-hour cancellation policy for facilities hire and court hire. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the booking are not eligible for a refund. 

  • Any membership cancellations made on or after the 1st of the calendar month will not be refunded for that month once payment has been taken. Facility use remains available until the last day of the same calendar month. 

Note: Club Block Booking cancellations and changes are governed by the Block Bookings section below and may differ from this general policy. 

 

7. Block Bookings (Clubs & Facility Hire) 

Applicability: This section applies to clubs/groups booking repeated, scheduled sessions (e.g., weekly training, matches) on GoShine Portishead facilities. 

  1. Minimum Commitment 

  • A minimum of ten (10) sessions must be booked and activated as a continuous block (i.e. no cancellations within paid block). 

  • Cancellations break the continuous nature of the block. 

  1. Session Interval 

  • The interval between each session must be at least 1 day and no more than 7 days. 

  1. Consistency of Activity 

  • Each session must be for the same activity on the same type of playing surface/venue. 

  1. One-Off Cancellations (Single Sessions) 

  • Must be notified in writing (email) at least 48 hours before your booking. 

  • Failure to give valid written notice will result in being charged in full for the session. 

  1. Block Changes or Cancellations (More than One Consecutive Session) 

  • We require at least 4 weeks’ notice to cancel or change a block booking that affects more than one consecutive session. 

  • Example: If two consecutive weeks are cancelled with less than 4 weeks’ notice, you will be charged in full for one of those weeks. 

 

6. Terms of Hire (facilities hire) 

By hiring the facility, the lead booker personally agrees and confirms that: 

  • They are responsible for the fees charged in respect of the hire of facilities and agree to abide by the GoShine Lettings Policy. 

  • In case of cancellation GoShine or approved referee for Health & Safety reasons, including inclement weather, repairs or maintenance, a refund will be issued.  

  • All other cancellations without 48 hours notice will be charged at full cost. 

  • Single bookings should be paid for before the booking takes place. 

  • New block bookings should pay 4 weeks in advance of the first booking. 

  • Clubs using Outdoor Pitches must abide by the rules posted at the entrance to the pitch. 

  • The GoShine Portishead site (playing fields, artificial pitch and buildings) is non-smoking and dogs are not permitted anywhere on site.  

  • By signing, you confirm that your club and its members have been informed of these rules and agree to comply with them. 

All hirers should provide the following prior to a booking taking place: 

  • Public Liability Insurance Certificate covering the duration of the booking. 

  • Risk Assessment for your event. 

  • Safeguarding Policy (required if your event involves juniors or vulnerable adults). 

Additional confirmations (where applicable): 

  • DBS checks for club coaches/officials (if your event involves juniors or vulnerable adults). 

  • A designated First Aider on site at all times. 

  • You have read, understood and agree to the Fire Policy, which will be issued on confirmation of booking. 

 

9. Liability & Risk 

  • Participation in all activities and use of facilities is at the member’s/club’s own risk. 

  • GoShine accepts no liability for injuries, accidents, or loss/damage to personal property. 

  • Members confirm they are medically fit to exercise and will notify staff of any health conditions affecting participation/ability. 

 

10. Data Protection & Privacy (GDPR) 

  • GoShine processes personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and relevant data protection laws. 

  • Data is used for membership management, bookings, safety, and communications. 

  • You have rights to access, rectify, or request deletion of your data; contact the centre for requests.
